First and foremost my sons participation in competitive soccer has increased this summer, and I see weekly improvement, which I cannot gleen from RSL games as of late. Second, it seems as though the RSL BigSoccer boards have become more a forum for bitching about the Front Office and any topic worthy of an intelligent and insightful banter quickly turns into nonsensical back and forth between individuals that take the thread far beyond the subject into weeds to long to tread into. Third, I find myself enjoying the games more this year because of the comraderie we've found in Section 26, which gives more satisfaction to me and my family than spending countless hours on BigSoccer waiting for a response to my question posed or opinion offered only to see those online fly right by it and explain why Howard the Duck was the greatest movie never awarded an Oscar.
Do not misunderstand, I will always be at every home game, and on my couch watching each road disaster, but it's the people, not the computer, that make me a fan, because the team isn't convincing me that they're going anywhere this season.

Well, I have been off the boards quite a bit lately as well. I just started spending my free computer time working on some web projects, instead of BigSoccer. I felt the same way that so many threads would be taken off-topic, and I would have to read through 2-3 pages of posts til it maybe swung back.
I think the guy who is a jerk and know it all online is probably the nice guy next to you at the stadium giving you a high five when RSL scores. I generally avoid online interaction with fans, because it seems mostly pointless to me.
The best decision I made was staying away from the boards as well. I've loved just watching the games, texting for my meal and keeping my expectations low.
When I first moved back to SLC and started becoming an RSL fan I liked the idea of BigSoccer. After posting a few comments, I was a little disappointed for the same reasons you listed above as well as the overall condescension I felt from the people who had been posting for a long time. I still get my daily readings from DesNews, the Trib, here, KeepinitReal and a few others. Anyway, the passion is there and maybe the game today will help me dig up my hope I buried under my seat.
Glad to have you! You have become an important part of our group!
